Edit: Clearly other companies are doing well. ElevenLabs, Runway, FAL, RunPod, CoreWeave, Lambda, BaseTen, Lovable. These are real companies that didn't raise absurd amounts of capital. They've grown revenues at a solid clip, provide real value, and didn't go off the deep end with fundraising.

How are we winning? Nobody has actually created a business model that works yet. Just because you can hemorrhage hundreds of billions of dollars to build the most performant model doesn't necessarily mean you're going to make your money back.

This is a great question. Unless OP works for one of the big AI companies, the "we" is actually just "they." He would rather they not lose the AI race so idiotically. If we are not in the race, we're losers-by-default as those in the race reap all the benefits.

My immediate thought as well.

CoreWeave and Lambda have both raised absurd amounts of money, in the form of bank loans.

It would be nice if AI turned out to not be yet another winner-take-all technology "race" that had to be won by one company.

The current US climate is for most of the people to face the market forces while some have pay-to-play privileges...
